The 11th Laboratory (The Thin-film Optics Lab.)
In these years the Thin Film Optical Technology Lab has made a great progress due to the support of KIP of CAS. The lab makes a feature of development and application research on laser thin film components. Now the lab has become an important one in CAS and a competitive one in China. The lab has a staff of 22, among them there are 5 masters, 5 doctors and one member of CAS Hundred Talents. The lab has 3 doctoral tutors and 3 master tutors and can cultivate doctor-undergraduates and master-undergraduates in optical engineering and metrology & testing. We would welcome Post Doctors and visiting professors in related fields to the lab to carry on research work.
The lab has established 4 coating systems and 3 testing systems for film parameters through independent design combined with introduction in the past 5 years and now the lab has 9 sets of large coating plant and 8 sets of large testing system. The ZZS2200 coating system introduced in 2001 is the largest box coating plant in China. Besides the conventional vacuum deposition technology, the lab develops several advanced deposition technologies, such as electron beam evaporation, ion beam assisted deposition, ion beam sputtering, etc. The lab has established a technical platform for the research and development of optical thin film components.
Scientific Research Achievements
Under the support of 863 Program, CAS’s KIP and other national important projects, the lab has made some important technical innovative achievements. For example, the lab firstly developed the planetary fixture of ion beam sputtering system and firstly succeeded in applying ion beam sputtering technology to manufacture thin film components with large area, high reflectivity, high damage threshold, low aberration and low absorption.
