A celebration ceremony was held in IOE on June 22, 2010 to celebrate its 40th anniversary.

In the morning, an academic review lecture was presented by Director ZHANG Yudong; subsequently, FAN Dianyuan, member of Chinese Academy of Engineering, gave a lecture on “Development of Electronics and Optics Technology Innovation”, and ZHU Nenghong, gave a lecture on “Progress on Modern Large Optical Telescope”. Over ten academicians and leaders from other institutes were invited.  Over 200 scientists and researchers from IOE were attracted by the lectures. In the evening, a celebration party “Road of Innovation” was held.

To celebrate the birthday of IOE, serial activities have completed, such as Youth Forum on Science and Technology held on 9 June, 2010, a celebration artistic performance conducted by retired employees on June 11, 2010 and the S&T achievements show.

IOE was founded in 1970. It is the largest institute of Chinese Academy of Sciences in Southwest China. Since the foundation, IOE has made many significant achievements in the fields of adaptive optics, beam control, applied optics and so on, and obtained over 500 scientific research awards including top prizes of the National Science and Technology Progress Award.
