Experts from School of Ophthalmology & Optometry, WMC visited IOE

Feb. 24th，2009, professor Lv Fan, the dean of School of Ophthalmology & Optometry, Wenzhou Medical College，with her three colleagues，had an academic visit to IOE. Professor Lv et. al. visited the Human Eye Research Team of the Adaptive Optics Lab in afternoon. They tested the high-resolution microscope for retina fundus imaging, vision simulator, higher-order aberrations optometry system, AO-OCT and so on, and then gave a friendly exchange with research personnel of the Lab. on the topic of the development and application of the instruments. Professor Lv assessed that the optical system for ophthalmic medicine has reached the domestic leading level and recommended that IOE should cooperate with other medical research institutes to carry out high-tech R&D for ophthalmic medical devices, so to push the ophthalmic medical equipments to the worldwide market as soon as possible.

In the morning, Feb. 25th, 2009, Professor Lv presented an academic report on" Status and progress of optometry research", introduced the achievements and progresses in optometry of Wenzhou Medical College in detail and discussed the hot issues such as effects of human eye higher-order aberrations on vision quality, progress of animal models for ophthalmic disease and high-resolution retinal imaging for early diagnosis of diseases with the researchers from IOE. Both sides agreed upon cooperation in the precursory fields, such as the evaluation of vision quality of patients after excimer laser operation and early diagnosis of diseases by high-resolution retinal imaging devices, based on the vision simulator and other high-tech medical equipments for optometry from IOE and animal disease model from Wenzhou Medical College.

The academic visit has built a solid foundation of cooperation in optometry between IOE and Wenzhou Medical College with the deep mutual understanding.
